Baked Crimson Gold Apples

Ingredients

  • 7 cups organic crimson gold apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In a large baking dish, combine apples, lemon juice, sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.
  3. Pour water over apples.
  4. In a separate bowl, prepare the topping: combine flour, oats, brown sugar, and 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon.
  5. Using a fork, cut butter or margarine into topping mixture.
  6. Once mixture resembles coarse crumbs, spread over fruit mixture.
  7. Bake 50 minutes or until topping is golden brown.
