Jewelry For The Bath

Imagine being able to adorn your bath with the sparkle of a diamond or the richness of bronze. At the 2009 Kitchen/Bath Industry Show, Kohler did just that with the introduction of some beautiful new lavatories in their Nature’s Chemistry Series. My favorite was the Briolette Lavatory made of spun glass. This new vessel sink is faceted like a diamond and, when light hits it, the result is a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. Equally as beautiful, but in a different sense, is the new Lilies Lore sink. Incorporating the richness and old world feel of cast bronze with the intricate and stylized motifs of Art Noveau, this sink truly is a piece of jewelry for the home. I love the way Kohler has integrated the drain by designing four grid holes that are cast into the bottom of the sink, allowing the bowl to be seamless and the organic pattern to be continuous. Over time the cast bronze material will develop a slight patina, transforming into a warm brown. Both these beautiful sinks will add personality and style to any environment with their distinct designs and elegant use of materials.
