CARLISLE INTRODUCES BRUSHED FLOORING

Surface Technique Highlights Premium Heartwood

Carlisle Wide Plank Floors unveils their brushed texture, a new process applied to wood floors that creates a softer wood aesthetic by adding greater definition to its premium heartwood. While running wood planks under specially designed brushes, Carlisle craftsmen remove the softer spring growth wood, leaving behind the hard summer growth grains and a textured, three-dimensional wood surface.

“After making sure we got the process and product just right, we are very pleased to add our brushed surface to our texture options,” said Chris Sy, national sales director of Carlisle. “The brushing technique will create an organic-looking older floor that is becoming a sought-after trend among our customers.”

Carlisle has perfected this technique, having experimented with a wide variety of brushes. By changing the material and thicknesses of the brushes, as well as the pressure with which it is applied, Carlisle is able to craft a unique texture on each board. Each craftsman-made Carlisle board dramatically decreases the problematic grain pull seen in other brushing methods when fibers are not lifted out completely. Carlisle will initially be offering brushing on its newly sawn oak and hickory flooring, and this texture may be combined with other distressing techniques.

This surface process authentically weathers Carlisle’s wood boards, creating natural looking reproductions of older, worn flooring. Each custom made brushed floor will perform the same and have the same life span as all other Carlisle floors, each capable of lasting more than 200 years.
