Tile & Other Decorative Finishes
Recent Money & Time Savers
Whether you're remodeling a kitchen or bath, some of the key elements you need to consider when designing your space are the decorative finishes. Beside cabinets, countertops and floors, there are other important surfaces that musn't be overlooked - the backsplash in the kitchen and the tub or shower surround in the bath.
Historically in the kitchen, the backsplash was typically 4" high and made of the same material as the countertop; it was meant to protect the walls at the sink and cooking areas. Today, backsplashes are functional as well as decorative and provide a great place to use distinctive materials to add personal style and flair to your design.
Although tile is the most popular choice for backsplashes, there are plenty of unique products that can be used, such as mirror, beadboard, and tin ceiling tiles. Decorative finishes are as equally important in bathroom design. With so many interesting materials available for all budgets, the sky's the limit when it comes to creating your own unique style in your kitchen or bath.
When making your selections, keep in mind the style of your space, as well as the finishes of your cabinets, countertops and fixtures. For a splash of interest, don't be afraid to combine a variety of materials into one design.
