Wine refrigerators are built to store and preserve wine at optimal temperatures.
They're available in a variety of sizes, shapes and styles to suit any kitchen or beverage center, and can be integrated into existing cabinetry. Some examples include built-in wine refrigerators - built-in under the counter; countertop wine coolers - free-standing and occupy very little space; tower wine coolers; single-bottle coolers; and full-size wine refrigerators.
If having both red and white varieties of wine on-hand to serve is a priority, consider dual-zone wine refrigerators. These have two storage areas with separate temperature controls.
Traditionally, wine refrigerators use compressor cooling systems, but a newer, thermoelectric cooling system is available that offers near silent operation and high energy efficiency.
Costs:
- $100 - $300 for a 6 - 20 bottle wine refrigerator;
- $300 - $600 for a medium capacity wine refrigerator;
- $1,000 - $2,000 (depending on features and brand) for large wine refrigerators; and
- $2,000+ for luxury wood wine storage cabinets.
