The first thing that drew me to this bedroom is the bright and cheerful feeling it has. The bed linens and headboard have such a great mix of happy colors and patterns. After taking a closer look, I realized there was a great idea here – a DIY headboard made from vintage frames. Allison at Fab Rehab Creations is the creative mind behind this jolly headboard.

For this DIY project, you will need at least two decent size picture frames and some fabric along with a few other items from your local hardware store. If you prefer a more modern aesthetic than shown above, choose less ornate frames and fabrics such as a wood frame with a square profile and a fabric with more texture and less pattern or color. Here’s a tip to make your headboard a little more comfy: add a little cotton or polyester batting between the plywood and fabric for a little extra cushioning.
