Korean BBQ!

Being quite new to the world of Korean cuisine, it seems quite natural to start off with the ever-so popular Korean barbecue. What can I say, I love meat; if I were a dinosaur, I would definitely be one of those scary carnivores. I'm almost pretty sure my parents were big Korean food fans, and took us to this one place, if I remember correctly, that served quite fabulous Korean barbecue. To be honest though, I can't be sure it was Korean food, but I can't imagine never having exposed to such a popular option. I simply sat down at the dinner table, and ate what was in front of me, no questions asked. Well, I suppose, things haven't changed all that much since then. Korean Barbecue is a great choice if you're thinking of entertaining great friends. You might want to leave your vegetarian friends out of this dinner party, as main event of the meal will definitely be meat, and lots of it. Korean barbecue is not only a great meal, but a fun activity where everyone can cook their own food. At Korean restaurants, such dishes are often cooked on a portable stove by the diners themselves, so what's a better (cheaper) solution than to cook it in your own home! The great thing about Korean Barbecue is that after trying out a few recipes, you'll develop a preference for ingredients and flavors and after a while develop your own recipe for a marinade. I came across this really interesting one from B-Side Blog that includes a kiwi and Sprite! Much like American BBQ, Korean BBQ has a million options when it comes to sauces and marinades. If you're totally new to the idea, check out these step-by-step videos by Expert Village on How to Make Korean Kalbi Ribs or marinated beef, the most popular variety of Korean barbecue.
