Kitchen Storage Solutions

I never have enough storage space in my kitchen, even though it may look like I do...I don't. Yes, I have plenty of cabinets, but I still suffer from kitchen-stuff overload. Now, with some help, I could probably weed out much of what I have and do just fine with the essentials (I am really trying to go for a minimalist approach nowadays), but I think, at least for now, I'll keep what I have and just figure out a way to make it all fit without losing anything in those deep, dark recesses called cabinets. Now, cabinets are basically just big, empty boxes - toy chests, essentially, for our stuff (be it kitchen-related items or not). But there are plenty of products out there to help you make more efficient use of the space, from drawer inserts to pullout-shelving units to custom cabinetry...you just have to figure out how you want to change your space. Clever Ideas:
  • Sliding Organizer Racks You can maximize cabinet space with sliding organizer racks, which allow you to not only make better use of cabinet space, but also be able to quickly locate items you need.
  • Under-Cabinet Organizers Adding a pull-down drawer to the underside of your overhead cabinets makes it a handy spot for spices and gadgets.
  • Pot Racks Pot racks are an obvious out-of-the-cabinet way to store your pots and pans...not to mention they add style!
  • Pegboard Drawers Instead of hefting plates up into overhead cabinets, stack them between adjustable pegs in a 12-inch-deep cabinet drawer...keeps everything in order too.
  • Hide-Away Bins Rice, dried beans, and unpopped popcorn can be stored in this type of drawer that has a wood insert with covered stainless-steel bins; you can pop them out and use them as serving trays, too.
  • Cutlery and Flatware Organizers Gain more storage space with cutlery and flatware trays that have evolved into efficient multi-tray organizers. You can install tiered trays or customize your own for a perfect fit.
