As much as I love a NY Strip steak seasoned with a little salt and pepper right off the grill, it doesn't hurt, every now and then, to add just a little A1 sauce or good old-fashioned Worcestershire. Actually, one of my favorite preparations is to grill a steak with a small pat of salted butter on top so that it melts and combines with the steak's juices developing a rich sauce. Hmmmm...my mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Recently, I attended the 34th Winter Fancy Food Show in San Franciso. Turning down one of the many (many!) aisles, I ran into a tall gentleman offering what looked like unassuming pieces of steak dipped in sauce...that sauce being their award-winning
Zip-It Steak Sauce. Never one to pass on a free sample, especially one involving food, or steak for that matter, I graciously took a bite and realized there was something fantastic about this sauce! It seemed familiar yet foreign. Rich, velvety, satisfying - those are the words that popped into my head. Think of it as au jus kicked up a few notches with the richness only real butter can add and you have Zip-It! As I mentioned above, I'm happy with a steak that's grilled with salt and pepper, but Zip-It's definitely being added to my pantry.
Adapted from a decades-old recipe found in his grandfather's attic, labeled appropriately as "Lots of Zip," Tom Shea's Zip-It Steak Sauce is easy as pie to utilize! Use it as a flavor enhancer in any recipe (
check out their site for great recipes) or straight out of the jar as a dipping sauce (go for the Blue Cheese!). I found some tempting vegetarian dishes on their site that I'll be trying soon as well!
All in all, I'm saving a spot in my pantry for Zip-It. A1 and Worcestershire? You're being put on hold.
