Seasonal and Holiday Decorating

When most of us think of seasonal and holiday decorating, our thoughts descend upon the holidays of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. But those holidays aren't the only good reasons to decorate - each season has it's own personality and decorating for each of them can bring an injection of new life into your home.

Summer
Summer is the time of the year to lighten and brighten: choose paint colors and breezy fabrics in light blues, greens, and yellows, switch out heavy drapes for sheer curtains, and add fresh-cut flowers in a light vase to the kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms.

Fall
Fall is a time for getting back to nature. Choose natural colors and materials, like fruits and vegetables (ie. pumpkins and gourds), to create displays and centerpieces, bring out the candles, and put the potpourri pot on with the scents of apples and cinnamon. It's also the time for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas decorating!

Winter
Winter is all about the golds...and reds, and greens, and chocolates; put away any summer accents and pastels. Make the fireplace a focal point with candles and recycle those poinsettas and evergreens.

Spring
Spring brings Easter, Mother's Day, fresh bright pastels, and fresh flowers. Choose soft fabrics in delicate colors, think sheer for curtains, tablecloths, and pillows, and get on with your spring cleaning!
